Bassdozer's Pro Buzzbaits for Bass Fishing
Style: Pro Buzzbait
Note: Horizontal planing head. Vertical planing collar.
Size: 1/4 oz (3/0) or 3/8 oz (4/0).
Hook: Gamakatsu heavy duty long shank hook.
Wire: .040 diameter drop down bend.
Pro Buzzbait. This buzzbait style has been on the
market over 20 years. It first came out first in the
mid-eighties. It was the first buzzbait I saw with the drop down
bend in the wire, and its advanced head shape has both flat
horizontal and upright vertical hydrodynamic planing surfaces,
making it one of the fastest-rising buzzbaitas to get up on
plane. Also one of the slowest surface-crawling buzzbaits I've
used these past twenty plus years that it's remained my favorite,
most productive buzzbait head style. Give it a try!
.040 Wire Arm. Most all other buzzbaits have .051 wire
arms and that makes sense when you consider that many buzzbaits
are built heavy for use in thick cover (where buzzbaits work
best). However, the buzzbaits you see here, lparticularly the
lightweight 1/4 oz sizes are really best on lighter tackle - say
10 or 12 lb test, and don't need heavy .051 wire arms. A couple
years ago, I had .040 wire arms specially made by the
manufacturer so that I could get more vibration out of these
lightweight buzzbaits. Now, .040 is still plenty heavy - but with
much more vibration than .051 wire.
EZ Skirts. One of the most durable and wriggling
action-packed skirt options for a buzzbait. Since a buzzbait is
more wind-resistant than many other lures, a buzzbait must be
cast with more force - and that alone can simply cause standard
banded skirts to pull down off the skirt collar due to the
casting force. That problem's compounded by fish that slash and
grab at a skirt on a buzzbait, pulling it down, wrecking any
chance the fish will strike again. The EZ Skirt solves the
problem of the skirt pulling due to the center hub of the EZ
skirt remaining resolutely in place no matter what.

make a difference some days.

Four-Bladed Plastic Prop. Gets the buzzbait out of the
hole and up on plane on the surface quicker, easier - and keeps
it on plane at slower speeds than your usual two-bladed aluminum
prop.
The four plastic blades cause a little more air resistance on
a cast - but also less torque in the water so it won't pull
toward or roll up on one side as much as a metal blade. So you
can work it slower, the same speed as - or even faster than a
metal blade and it is going to run truer.
The clear plastic prop is good any time, but especially under
clear, sunny conditions. It gives a spitty, splashing action
without the visibility or flash of a metal blade. The splash,
wake, gurgle, cluck and the noise and commotion are all present,
just without the visual appearance of a metal or painted blade.
Indeed it makes more chatter and splash than a standard metal
blade, and it has a rivet inserted on the end to create
rivet-on-rivet turning noise plus a lot of plastic chattering
resonated off the vibrating .040 wire. You just can't see the
clear plastic blade with all the splashing. That makes this a
finesse buzzbait for clear, bright conditions or anytime whenever
fish are reluctant to hit other bigger, bulkier buzzbaits.
